Der Bücherwurm van Carl Spitzweg op reclamekaart uit 1875
Het beroemde schilderij Der Bücherwurm van Carl Spitzweg (1808-1885) wordt vaak gebruikt als illustratie bij boekachtige zaken. Ook Boekendingen.nl heeft het verstrooide boekenbaasje als ‘logo’ geadopteerd.
Op de website Bibliophemera van Chuck Whiting zag ik vandaag een bijzondere toepassing van het schilderij. Boekhandelaar John Penington uit Philadelphia gebruikte al in 1875 de bookwurm op een kaart om reclame te maken voor zijn winkel.
