White House Library in Miniature…
In de ‘George Bush Presidential Library and Museum’ in Texas is een schaalmodel te zien van het Witte Huis. Een familie Zweifel heeft er dertig jaar aan gewerkt…
There is nothing miniature about this model. It is huge. At fifty-five feet long and twenty feet wide, this model is an eye popper. This exquisitely furnished replica of the White House has drawn record-breaking crowds all over the country. The Zweifel family, with the blessings of the White House, has devoted thirty years of their life researching, executing, moving and maintaining this extraordinary gift to the people of the United States.

The Library
The Library contains 2700 volumes pertaining mostly to American life, and papers of and works by former presidents. Robert C. Robinson, who for five years spent between five and six weeks a year as a volunteer working on the White House replica, said he was most proud of the 2250 miniature books that he made, “some leaning one way, some another. Some lying flat and open to read. Most of them for the Library.”
Chair on book
The replica of the New England Sheraton-style armchair, also known as a lolling or “Martha Washington” type, is seen atop volume 2 of William Seale’s The President’s House, a book measuring 6 by 9 inches.
